The Kop - The home end for 2008/09
With
a change of Chairman, yet another change of Manager, and Directors walking
out amid great controversy, 2007/08 turned out to be another turbulent
season in which Notts equalled their lowest ever league finish of 2005/06
- 89th in the 92. County actually finished with fewer points than they
did two years ago (when we only stayed up on the final Saturday by virtue
of results elsewhere) but safety was secured this season with one fixture
still remaining.
Although there have been one or two notable
exceptions, County's home record has been consistently poor since the re-building
of the stadium was completed back in 1994 and it is generally agreed that
the lack of atmosphere in the ground is largely to blame. The decision
to finally hand over the Kop to home supporters for the last two home fixtures
was a major factor in ensuring that League football will still be played
at Meadow Lane next season, the noise that the Notts fans were able to
generate from the Kop in the final two home games (both won 1-0) made for
a new and exhilarating experience and the news that this stand will now
be permanently recognised as the home end is reason enough to believe that
the club will enjoy a much healthier 2008/09.
Site updates: The Records
section has been updated to include County's equal worst finish of all
time as well as the record number of draws (matching the 18 set in 1968/69)
and the Ground
history has been amended to include the migration of home support to
the Kop. Programme scans are also being added to the Vintage
report pages, and the classic Colin
Slater commentary files have all been restored.

Vintage
match reports & stats
I've been busy adding to the site over the
Christmas/New Year holiday - Many matches dating back to the 1982/83 season
now have their own page that include team line-ups for both Notts and their
opponents. Some pages (mostly fixtures from 1988-1994) also offer a match
report and manager/player quotes. See here
for a list of the most memorable games currently available, many others
can be accessed via the Season
Stats pages by clicking on underlined match dates (at the moment I'm
currently adding pages to the 1983/84 season and I intend to add more soon).
The Records
section has also been updated, as has Notts
on the box and the Ground
History.
