WELFARE FURNISH A DEAL |

Kimberley Miners Welfare have secured a �5000
sponsorship deal with the giant Swedish home furnishing retainer, IKEA.
Their huge Giltbrook store is based just a few hundred yards away from
Welfare's Digby Street home, and the Club are understandably delighted that
such a well known company is prepared to contribute towards local grassroots
football. It is expected that all 14 of Welfare's sides will benefit from

Mrs Eileen Wright, widow of former supremo
Alan, officially opened a new 109-seater stand and hospitality area at
Rainworth Miners Welfare's Kirklington Road home on Saturday. A 1-0 F.A.
Vase victory over Racing Club Warwick capped a perfect
day, with the former Vase finalists inviting several local dignitaries,
along with some of the former management and players who took the Club on

Vase debutants Radcliffe Olympic can look forward to a local
derby against former Vase winners, Rainworth Miners Welfare, after
overcoming Lye Town 3-1 in a replay this evening. They'll join fellow
debutants Calverton Miners Welfare in the First Round Proper, following their shock 1-0 win at Heanor Town.
Calverton have been rewarded with a plum home
tie against Step three Staffordshire outfit, Newcastle Town, in the First Round
Proper. Fellow debutants, Nine-nil winners Sutton Town, Carlton Town & Retford
United will all fancy their chances of progressing against Brierley & Hagley,

Notts County pulled off the second major cup shock in a week for
Nottinghamshire football by disposing of Premiership Middlesborough in the
Carling Cup last night. Following Gedling's defeat of Hednesford in the
F.A.Cup earlier this week, County added a 1-0 cup upset of their own with a
26th minute strike by Tcham N'Toya against a team containing the likes of
Robert Huth, Mark Viduka & Gaizka Mendieta. County have been rewarded

Radford Football Club have installed their first all-seated stand at their
Berridge Road West Ground. The pre-fabricated stand is sited next to the
clubhouse on the entrance side of the Ground, and compliments the existing
standing accommodation. This completes a number of steps the Club have taken
in recent years to ensure the Ground at least meets CML Supreme Division

Gedling Town sensationally knocked Hednesford Town out of the F.A.Cup
tonight at the Riverside in what must surely rank as one of the Clubs best
ever victories. Hednesford, a side 64 places above Gedling on the football
pyramid, dominated for long periods, hitting the bar twice. However, a 35th
minute free-header from Lee Melon inside the six-yard box was enough to secure Gedling a
home tie against Midlands Football Alliance outfit, Rocester, in the Second
Qualifying Round. They will be joined by fellow Notts outfits Worksop Town and Hucknall
Town. Both face tough away ties at Droylsden and Lincoln
United respectively. The ties will take

Gedling Town almost pulled off a shock victory in the 1st Qualifying Round
of the F.A.Cup at Hednesford Town this weekend. The Pitmen, three steps
above Gedling on the football ladder, grabbed an 88th minute equalizer from
Lee Melon in a
1-1 draw, forcing a replay at The Riverside on Tuesday 19

The Central Midlands League Ground Grading
Committee inspected Bilborough Pelican's
Brian Wakefield Sports Ground
last week and passed it fit for the Supreme Division. This is just reward
for the great deal of hard work that has gone on over the summer to ensure
that the club remained in the top flight of the CML. This included the
switching on last week of their new high-power floodlights. Bilborough's

Teversal are to stage a benefit game for club physio George Allsop's wife
Theresa, who is suffering from an incurable cancer. A Tevie Old Boys XI will
face the Mel Sterland All-Stars which will include former England striker,
David Hurst. The match takes place at Carnarvon Street on Sunday 24th
September, kick-off 2pm.

Representatives of the Nationwide Conference Ground Grading
Committee visited Worksop Town last week in order to assess the suitability
of their Sandy Lane home. The Conference reps were able to offer the Tigers
advice on what improvements would be required in order for them to meet the
new Level 'B' ground grading requirements by April 2008. Further
improvements will see the ground capacity rise to 3000 and, although there
is still a great amount of work still to be done, the club were given no
surprises that they were not aware of. 17 September 2020 |

The 2nd Qualifying Round of the F.A.Vase has thrown up a fascinating tie
between two Notts teams. Clipstone Welfare will entertain Carlton Town at
The Lido on Saturday 23 September. There are also three Notts v Derbyshire
ties with Newark Town, Retford United & Calverton Miners Welfare facing

Arnold Town Supporters Club have proposed a
'Saints and Kings Day' next month as a tribute to Arnold
Football Club and Arnold Kingswell, the predecessors of Arnold Town. On
Saturday October 28th the Club will be making the short trip to NCEL
Premier newcomers Carlton Town, who don the same yellow and blue colours as
the Eagles. Eagles fans are encouraged to wear either the maroon & blue of

Six out of ten clubs from the county have progressed to the 2nd qualifying
round of the F.A.Trophy. The most impressive performances were away from
home, with Dunkirk & Sutton Town caulking up 5-0 & 4-0 wins respectively.
They are joined in the next round by Carlton Town, Teversal, Newark Town, &

Former Mansfield Town defender, Matt Gatsby, has tragically collapsed and
died whilst playing for Hinckley United at Harrogate. Prompt action from
medics at the ground and the nearby hospital failed to revive the
27-year-old. He leaves behind a wife and young daughter.

Having crushed Holbeach 4-0, Gedling Town are the sole surviving team
from Nottinghamshire after the Preliminary Rounds of this seasons F.A.Cup.
With Eastwood having lost 2-0 to Bromsgrove last night, Town will represent
the county in the 1st Qualifying Round, when they travel to Unibond Northern

Radcliffe Olympic
have received funding from Notts County Council and Strategic Enterprise
East Midlands to embark on a feasibility study for an exciting new �1million
football complex at a new location. The development, which would be situated
just off the A52, adjacent to Radcliffe Cricket Club, would provide new
changing rooms, a clubhouse, and enough pitches to cater for all 28 mens,
ladies, boys and girls teams.

attendance on 9 August at The Lane, home to Ollerton Town. A crowd well in
excess of 200 spectators turned out to see Town hold a young representative
