Welcome to nottinghamshirefootball.com The County of Nottinghamshire. Eight hundred and fifty square miles of rich cultural, industrial and sporting heritage. Blessed with a vast array of historical icons such as Robin Hood, Sir Richard Arkwright, Torvill & Dean, Lord Byron, Jessie Boot, William Booth, DH Lawrence, Alan Sillitoe & Sue Pollard. Nottinghamshire football has a rich and vibrant history which compliments these local heroic figures. It was on this basis that I felt it was my duty to deliver this website. My journey has taken me hundreds of miles from Harworth in the north, Keyworth in the south, Teversal in the west and Collingham in the east, to bring you a comprehensive guide to the arenas in which Nottinghamshire's 60 senior Saturday football teams ply their trade. You'll also find all the latest news from around the county, a guide to the structure of non-league football, Nottinghamshire County Cup winners going back to 1884 and a comprehensive links to other excellent sites worth visiting. The Clubs section is split as follows: Statistics - home venue, contact details, capacity, seats, record attendance, club colours, club websites, nicknames etc. Travel - Be it bus, train, car or tram, you'll find detailed tried and tested routes to get you to the venue. Past, Present & Future - Extensively researched insight into the history of each club, achievements, their present situation and their future plans. For example, were you aware that Worksop once played in front of a crowd of over 70,000, that Retford's Ground is named after a two ton Russian cannon from the Crimean War, or that Newark once beat a full strength Nottingham Forest in the Nottinghamshire County Cup? Photography - Almost exclusively personally taken photos of all the grounds, inside & out. I've taken a lot of time researching in order get the content of this site right. However, if you notice any mistakes or can offer any additional information or new developments, your input would be gratefully appeciated: [email protected] Most importantly, please take the time to have a look at the club's own websites. Indeed, why not make a visit to a few of the featured clubs yourself? I'm sure your support would be very warmly received. Who knows, you might even bump into Sue Pollard. Finally, thank you to everyone for their help with this time consuming project. Special thanks go out to the author, Simon Ingles for providing the inspiration, Brian Clough for providing the passion, and my wife Clare for providing unlimited patience. Here's hoping the newest addition to the Rooney family will be as daft as their father about local football. Enjoy. Christopher Rooney
